Adopt Me Backpack Storage and Releaser Refresh: Kiwi Kiwi, Strawberry Tortle, and Storage Tabs
The official Backpack Storage & Releaser Refresh! post was published on Friday, August 21, 2026. The update adds two Legendary Releaser pets and a new way to keep items out of your main backpack.
What changed in the update
The headline feature is Backpack Storage, a separate space where you can move items out of your backpack without deleting or trading them away. The official post says items can move between Backpack and Storage whenever you want, and you can select multiple items at once for faster cleanup.
The second half of the update is the Releaser refresh. Two new Legendary pets have joined the chase: Kiwi Kiwi and Strawberry Tortle. The official route is to release pets for tickets, then spend those tickets on Basic Eggs and Crystal Eggs for a chance at the new pets.

Use Storage to clear out pets and items you are not actively raising, then keep only your current grind, trade, or flex pets in the main backpack. For the new Legendaries, avoid treating early offers as stable values.
How Storage Tabs work
Storage Tabs are the part that makes the new system useful for large inventories. The official post says each tab can have its own name and an icon from the Journal, and players can create up to 25 Tabs. That gives collectors room to separate event pets, aging projects, old toys, food, vehicles, gifts, and trade bait instead of scrolling through one crowded backpack.
Storage also matters during trading. The update lets you access Storage while trading and give other players access to view your Storage inventory. That means you can show more of your collection without carrying everything in your active backpack.
Value status for Kiwi Kiwi and Strawberry Tortle
Both new pets are official, both are Legendary, and both are safe to cover as update content. Their trade values are a separate question. The Patch is keeping Kiwi Kiwi and Strawberry Tortle out of live calculator and benchmark layers until public market evidence is strong enough to avoid fake precision.
If you are trading on day one, compare against established Legendary pets, watch real offers, and be cautious with overpays driven only by release hype. A new-pet premium can move quickly once more players start opening Releaser eggs.
